Mary Frances Dupuis Simpson—“Frankie”--passed away peacefully on October 16, 2024 at Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation in Morgan City, LA at the age of 78. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Sophie Dupuis and was born on June 16, 1946 in Morgan City. Although a resident of her home town prior to her death, she was a longtime resident of Mobile, Alabama and most recently Hammond, LA where she was employed by the City Court of Hammond as the Families in Need of Services Program Assistant. Upon her retirement she left behind many coworkers who loved her spirit and respected her work ethic.
Relatives and friends will remember Frankie as fun loving, full of laughter, and a magnet who drew others to her. They will also remember how much she loved all things “beachy.” Week long visits to the shores of Florida with her family, her best friend Karen, or her sister Jeanine were an annual affair. This beach obsession carried over to her home, decorated to remind her of the sand, the shells, the water and the sun that she loved so much. Frankie also enjoyed cooking and excelled at it. She received strict instructions from her son and granddaughter on what to prepare whenever they visited Louisiana or when she joined them in Montana. She kept a binder with her favorite recipes and did not hesitate to share them when asked.
Frankie looked forward to her weekly Skype calls with her son, the apple of her eye and her granddaughter, the joy of her heart as well as her sweet daughter-in-law. Living so far apart, she was able to keep abreast of what was going on in their lives. But it was her trips to Montana to visit them in person or their trips to Louisiana that made her the happiest.
Frankie is survived by her son, Jamie Simpson (Kitty) of Whitefish, MT, her granddaughter Zoey Simpson, siblings Jeanine Gray, Merle Mula, Susie Myers (Jerry), and cherished nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Simpson, her parents Frank and Sophie Dupuis, a sister Flora Ann Marceaux, brothers-in-law Horace Marceaux and Don Gray and longtime best friends Karen and Wayne Plauche.
The family extends thanks to the staff of Legacy Nursing and Rehabilitation of Morgan City, LA and Hope Hospice of Houma, LA for their care of Frankie and the support extended to her loved ones. The family also acknowledges her niece, Majella Bailey, whose unwavering love and unselfishness carried us all through this difficult journey.
