Melvin Joseph Barras

Melvin Joseph Barras Sr., 85, a resident of Bayou Vista, passed away on November 9, 2020 at Ochsner St. Mary.

Melvin was born September 20, 1935 in Bayou Chene, the son of Jessie Barras and Emelda Verret.

He is survived by his wife Dorsey Barras; two children, Cathy Newlin and Melvin Barras Jr.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Melvin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Jimmy Barras; two brothers; one sister.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
