Patrick “Pat” DeHart, 70, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Pat was born on July 24, 1948 in Morgan City, the son of Elton DeHart and Rena Fabre DeHart.
Pat was a lifelong resident of Morgan City, graduating from Morgan City High School in the class of 1966. He attended two years in college before proudly serving his country in the United States Air Force. Pat was the founder of Scope Logistical Specialist Inc. and when he wasn’t working, in his free time he was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as spending time on his house boat. He enjoyed his time with friends at the coffee shop keeping up with the town business, but the thing that he enjoyed doing the most was spending time with his grandchildren. He was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda Bergeron DeHart of Morgan City; two children, Lance Michael DeHart and fiancé Laurie of Lafayette, Tracy DeHart Carmichael and husband Adam of Morgan City; seven grandchildren, Ferris E. DeHart, Matthew J. DeHart, Riley E. DeHart, Patrick E. Carmichael, Ian T. Carmichael, Emma T Stutes, Ava R. Stutes; two brothers, Ricky DeHart and wife Becky of Pensacola, Florida, Warren DeHart and wife Challie of Bayou L’Ourse; two sisters, Debbie Navarro and husband Ricky of Morgan City, Glenda Rice and husband David of Dickinson, Texas; great niece Katelyn Broussard; great nephew, Carter Matusiak.
Pat was preceded in death by his son, Jason Michael DeHart; father, Elton DeHart; mother, Rena DeHart Deslatte and her husband Allen Deslatte.
Pallbearers will be Danny Bergeron, Ricky Bergeron, Randy DeHart, Warren DeHart, Ronnie Blanchard, Adam Carmichael, and Lance DeHart. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew DeHart, Patrick Carmichael, and Ian Carmichael.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a visitation being held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Following Mass Pat will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum with Military Honors rendered by Keesler Airforce Base Honor Guard and the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Central Catholic High School.
