Quinn Ray Martin

Quinn Ray Martin, 53, a resident of Dallas, Texas and native of Morgan City, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 14, 2021, in Grapevine, Texas. Quinn was born on December 16, 1967, in Morgan City, the son of Percy E. “Marty” Martin Jr. and Prissy Verret Martin. After graduating from MCHS, Quinn attended Nicholls State for 2 years. He then joined the US Army as a member of the 82nd Airborne at Fort Bragg, NC. He went on a variety of deployments for 2 years as an E5 in the 82nd Airborne. Upon separation of active duty, Quinn joined the Louisiana Army Reserves, an Air Assault unit, operating at the Lakefront Airport in New Orleans, La. Quinn transferred to the Mississippi National Guard and joined the 22nd Battalion of the Mississippi Special Forces as an E5 Green Beret. He spent several years operating out of Jackson, Ms. He was honorably discharged and pursued a finance degree at LA-Tech until September 11, 2001, when he felt led to re-enlist in the 22nd Battalion Special Forces; ultimately, serving a year in Afghanistan. Quinn was a Patriot in the truest sense of the word and serving his county was one of his greatest honors and achievements. The love of Quinn’s life and his greatest accomplishment was his family. The pride he took in his beautiful girls, Lisa, Camille and Caroline and his wonderful son, Cole, could not be measured. He took care of them to the best of his ability, many times driving 6 hours round trip 2 days in a row just so he wouldn’t miss important events. Quinn was a “yes” dad! Anything fun the kids wanted to do, Quinn would readily try to make it happen for them! Quinn, Lisa and the children were looking forward to the next chapter in their family as they had just bought a new house and were looking forward to the children graduating and going to college. His special canine companion, Snowflake, was his spirit animal brother and the 2 shared an unusually special bond, and Snowflake will miss him terribly. Quinn loved life! Playing polo, sky diving, running his hot air balloon, scuba diving, skiing, shopping for the biggest fireworks, boiling crawfish every weekend during crawfish season, starting new businesses, adventure was Quinn’s middle name! He was always up for a good time and made sure to include family and friends in all the fun! Quinn was one of a kind and lived every day just like it was his last, and he will be dearly missed. He is lovingly remembered by Lisa Martin and their three children, Cole, Camille and Caroline all of Prairieville; his parents, Marty and Prissy Martin of Morgan City; one brother, Casey Martin and wife Jessica of Berwick and their children, Carter Martin, Connor Martin, Cameron Perera and Caitlin Bourgeois, and his cousin who was like a brother to him, Vince Coreil, and too many friends who were a brotherhood for him to count. Quinn was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Albert and Leona Verret; paternal grandparents, Percy and Nelda Martin; three uncles, Albert Verret Jr., Donald Verret Sr. and Patrick Verret and cousin Mark Verret. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Church with Father Mike Tran celebrating the Mass. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Twin City Funeral Home with the visitation resuming from 10:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Following Mass, Quinn will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery with Military Honors. Honors will be rendered by the United States Army Fort Polk Honor Guard and the East St. Mary Veterans Funeral Squad.
