Ray James Guarisco, 72, a resident of Morgan City, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018 at Lafayette General Medical Center.
Ray was a true and avid outdoors man who loved to hunt and was an exotic trophy hunter. He was a member and past president of the Safari Club and enjoyed his many hunting trips to Africa and Alaska. Ray enjoyed horse racing and was both owner and trainer of several race horses. Ray was a faithful parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Ray was born on February 23, 1946 in New Orleans the son of Peter J. Guarisco and Lelia Granger Guarisco.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Ray Lynn Benoit Guarisco of Morgan City; two sons, Robert J. Guarisco of Baton Rouge and Gary Guarisco of Morgan City; one sister, Elizabeth Guarisco Dickerson of Nicholasville, Kentucky; half-brother, Robert Terrebonne of Mandeville; two god children, Gage Guillory and Robin Alfred; special friend and like a son, Larry Guillory Sr.; numerous cousins and many lifelong friends.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Peter J. and Lelia Granger Guarisco; one sister, Barbara Holleck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. A wake will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Twin City Funeral Home with the wake resuming from 9:00 a.m. until Mass time on Monday at Sacred Heart Church. Following Mass Ray will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
