Ronald Joseph “Ronnie” Ratcliff Sr., 76, a lifelong resident of Morgan City, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
Ronnie was born on September 22, 1944 in Morgan City, the son of Randolph Charles Ratcliff Sr. and Shirley Rita Mayon Ratcliff.
Ronnie was truly dedicated to his family and his one goal everyday was to ensure that his wife Sandra was taken care of. He loved every moment he was able to spend with his family and friends but especially cherished the time spent watching his grandchildren play soccer, baseball, basketball, football and golf. Ronnie enjoyed the game of golf, but more importantly he enjoyed the time that was spent with his friends playing.
Ronnie started and finished his career in the Oil and Gas Industry. His first job was with Mobil Oil as a Senior Shooter for the Seismograph Division. He later moved into the Production side of the Industry and finished his career as Production Manager for Burlington Resources. Ronnie received numerous Safety and Production awards along the way. He truly had a passion for the Oil and Gas Industry.
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 56 years, Sandra Dean Ratcliff of Morgan City; two children, Rhonda Ratcliff Gurinsky and husband Charles of San Antonio, Texas, Ronald Joseph Ratcliff Jr. and wife Monique of Berwick; seven grandchildren, Jennifer Meredith and husband Reid, Nathan Gurinsky and wife Campbell “Camy”, Rachel Gurinsky, Sylvan Gurinsky, Rustin Ratcliff, Reise Ratcliff, Rhett Ratcliff; three great grandchildren, Caroline Meredith, Maddie Sue Meredith and Palmer Meredith; one brother, Randolph C. Ratcliff Jr. and wife Barbara of Morgan City; one sister, Elsie Ann Gaudet and husband Bobby of Morgan City; two sisters-in-law, Michelle Ratcliff of Morgan City and Linda Dean of California; one brother-in-law, Norris Leon of Bayou Vista.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Sr. and Shirley Mayon Ratcliff; one daughter, Kimberly Ann Ratcliff; one brother, Michael David Ratcliff; one sister, Susan Ratcliff Leon; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Natalia Dean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at St. Stephen Catholic Church with Monsignor J. Douglas Courville celebrating Mass. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 29, 2021 at Twin City Funeral Home. Following Mass, Ronnie will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Ronald Ratcliff Jr, Rustin Ratcliff, Reise Ratcliff, Rhett Ratcliff, Nathan Gurinsky, Sylvan Gurinsky, Brad Ratcliff, Randyl Ratcliff, Bobby Gaudet Jr, Keith Leon.
