Sheila Ann Ourso Burdick, 73, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner.

Shelia was born July 22, 1951, in Morgan City, LA. The first of eight was born to Edwin Ourso Sr. and Sophie Pearce Ourso. Sheila was a retired nurse and a dedicated homemaker.

Sheila was a very proud grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing her grandchildren’s accomplishments with any and everyone she met. A woman of many talents and interests, Sheila found joy in cooking for her family, often preparing generous amounts that brought everyone together at the table. She adored music and dancing filling her home with laughter and joy. Her passion for the community was evident in her active involvement with the Mandeville Garden Club and her role as director of the Petroleum Wives Club during her time overseas. Sheila enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, traveling, and cooking. While living in Florida, Sheila and Ed enjoyed the beach and exploring the state.

She will be sadly missed and forever remembered by her husband of 30 years Edison “Ed” Burdick; children, Trevor Patterson Jr., Dawn LaCoste and husband Jerry, Danny Burdick, Deanne Bligh and husband Josh, and daughter-in-law, Lex Burdick; siblings, Aubrey, Ginger, Gianna, Sabena, Dana, and Monessa; 13 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shelia was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Ourso Sr., and Sophie Pearce Ourso; son, Don Burdick; paternal and maternal grandparents; brother, Edwin Ourso Jr.; brother-in-law, David P. Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Janell Ourso; three grandsons, William, Brendan, and Ethan.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Stephen Catholic Church in Berwick, with Father Sal Istre officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, 2025, at Twin City Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Keeping with her wishes, Shelia will be cremated and placed in the Morgan City Mausoleum at a later date.
