Vernie Courtney Stone

Vernie Courtney Stone, 95, a native of Cleveland, Arkansas, and longtime resident of Morgan City, was called home Sunday, September 15, 2019, surrounded by her loved ones, she went home to be with her Lord.

Born Friday, December 7, 1923, in Cleveland, Arkansas, to Roy Sr. and Mary Courtney; she was a true Christian right to her very last  minute.

Left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Randall Stone (Clara), John E. Stone (Sharon), and her daughter, Juanita Stone Futch Smith; daughter-in-law, Cathy Stone; 12 grandchildren, Terry Stone (Courtney), Amy Stone Giroir (Corry), Corey Stone (Tiffany), Charmaine Stone Bernard (Phillip), John R. Stone (Melissa), Boyd Stone (Star), Michael Stone, Anita Futch Van Eaten, James Wesley Futch (Penny), Terry Lynn Futch, Vera Futch Rhodes (Richard) Rebecca Futch Walton (Brian); 24 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren.

Vernie was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Sr. and Mary Courtney; brothers, JC William and Roy Courtney Jr.; sisters, Emma Courtney and Mattie Becham; one son, Lloyd Wayne Stone; one grandson, Charles Stone.

The Stone family would like to thank Morgan City Health Care Center and Dr. Cefalu and Staff.

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday,  September 17, 2019 at Twin City Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Twin City Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. After services, Vernie will be laid to rest in Morgan City Cemetery.
