Virgie Billiot Gray

February 11, 1932 — June 27, 2018

Virgie Billiot Gray, 86, lifelong resident of Morgan City, Louisiana, went home to her Heavenly Father on June 27, 2018 in Baton Rouge, LA.

Virgie was born February 11, 1932 “down the bayou in a lily patch” as she always referred when asked where she was born.  She was proud to be “a Houma Indian” (from the United Houma Nation Tribe) and was known for her cooking.  She kept stock piles of everyone’s favorite dishes in her freezer and with 15 minutes notice she would have your favorite meal hot and ready for you when you walked in the door.  She loved her family and kept a large collection of photos of her loved ones.

Virgie is survived by her daughters, Pat and favorite son-in-law, August Arnould, of Greenwell Springs; Debbie Kovac of Baton Rouge; Janice Gray of Morgan City; and Robbie Gray of Prairieville.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Patrick and wife, Daphne Arnould of Prairieville; Tracy Landry of Honolulu, HI; Landon Landry of Nashville, TN; Jeremy Kovac of Raceland; and Morgan Lynn Gray of Prairieville; eight (8) great-grandchildren; and siblings, Adam Billiot; Rose Dinger and Barbara Ida Crouch. She was known as Maw Maw by many others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew Gray, Jr.; her son, Alton Joseph Landry; parents, Batran and Sadie Billiot; and siblings, Anita Dinger; and Robert, Aubrey, and Sadie Louise Billiot.

Visitation will be held at Twin City Funeral Home in Morgan City with a viewing on Saturday, July 7, 2018 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm and funeral service at 2:00 pm.  The burial will immediately following the service at Morgan City Cemetery.
