William Corky Downer Jr.

William L. Downer Jr., 81, fondly known as “Corky”, a resident of Patterson, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Ochsner St. Mary.

Corky was born February 11, 1942, in Shreveport, the son of William L. “Les” Downer Sr. and Jimmie Hudson.

He held various jobs such as a deep-sea diver, pilot, and a restaurant owner/operator in Texas and Louisiana.  He had a love for airplanes, cars, assembling and flying model airplanes, drag racing, animals, various collectibles, and women.  He was a great cook and could make an old tire taste good. He was also known as one of the youngest pilots in the area and as everyone knows he was a great jokester.

He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his two daughters, Heidi Downer Fisher of Clear Lake, TX., and Jimmi Lynn Larsen of Houston, TX.; one sister, Leslie Downer Martin and husband Dale of Lafayette, LA.; three grandchildren, Lauren Regalado, Jonathan Larsen, and Ross Fisher; four great grandchildren; special friend, Charlotte Fabre; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Corky was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. “Les” and Jimmie Downer; sister, Judy Adams.
